When in Romania...

It's been a busy week in the Soccer AM office with a few members of the crew travelling across Europe aboard the Cluj Bus.

Well, to be honest it was a plane as a bus would have taken us around 40 hours to get there, but it still was a 24-hour trip!

We sent along Franky Fryer, Max and James and thought it would be best to send them along with the Man Utd fans (that provided some banter for the lads in their Cluj shirts). However, the trip didn't start as planned after the plane was delayed for an hour, eventually taking off at 7am after they'd arrived at the airport 4.15am.

James decided to submerge himself in Romanian culture, revealing he now realises that Romania is a country in Europe! However, he was left disappointed that vampires didn't exist in the Transylvanian city, while Franky spent the whole day in vain trying to find the Cheeky Girls.

James struggled with the language when approached by a Romanian reporter who had confused him with a local due to the fact he was wearing a Cluj shirt. He decided to wait a whole 30 seconds before confessing that he didn't know a word of the language which was lucky for him as any longer and our lads could've been live on Romanian TV.

You'll see what we got up to on Saturday but both the United and Cluj fans were brilliant (although Franky is refusing to ever wear a Cluj shirt in the United end ever again!)

James got to celebrate his birthday amongst the United fans on the return flight, but he's looking forward to properly celebrating at Mahiki this Saturday.

Rocket also did some travelling of his own, going on a helicopter ride which was a Christmas gift given to him. It was a good trip up until the pilot decided to cut the engine for a second, sending him into free-fall for what felt like ages. He clearly wasn't a fan of Fellaini!

James' busy week also included pitch-side seats for the Arsenal v Chelsea match. We sent him down to the Emirates on Saturday for our interview with Jack Whitehall and he was gutted at the prospect of missing the game despite being at the ground.

However, our very own Geoff Shreeves stepped in to offer James a seat next to him for which he is very grateful. It's not a bad view I'll think you'll agree!?

It was predominantly a good weekend for our office teams this week. Max, Ash and Stu were involved in a 5-1 win for their side with Max scoring three (it wasn't a perfect hat-trick though!). Ash's game was cut short when he committed a dreadful tackle and managed to bash his head at the same time meaning he needed to be subbed within the first 30 seconds!

Franky and Tubes also won for Oxshott Royals, which puts them top of the Leatherhead & District Division 1 Sunday League. Tubes even played on Sunday despite breaking his toe playing on Saturday.

Franky is not looking forward to the prospect of Fetcham this weekend though. 'It's never an easy place to go'. Be sure to keep an eye out for the result on Soccer Saturday.

James' side lost 3-0 although was pleased with his own personal performance but less happy with the state of the pitches: 'It was a joke; they were barely the minimum legal standard!'

See you on Saturday!
