Aston Villa were rocked in March by the news that club captain Stiliyan Petrov had been diagnosed with leukaemia.
However, the Bulgarian's illness has inspired Villa masseurs Alex Butler and Andy Smith to ride from Petrov's former stadium, Celtic Park, to his current one, Villa Park, to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Butler and Smith's 'Pedal for Petrov' journey, which began in Glasgow on September 4 and will conclude in Birmingham on September 9, has visited players at St James' Park, Anfield, Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium, and the boys are hopeful that Petrov may be able to take park in a portion of the journey himself.
The Villa masseurs, who have been trained by leukaemia survivor and former Crystal Palace midfielder Geoff Thomas, are hopeful of raising over £250,000 and you can add to the lengthy list of donators by clicking here.
This week's Soccer AM guest, Alastair Campbell, is supporting the campaign and will talk about it on Saturday's show, while for more information on the fundraising dinner that Aston Villa have organised for Sunday night, call 0800 612 0960.
