Long: got the X Factor

It's been a great week barring 40 minutes on Sunday in West London... but let's stick to the positives for now!

"His whole pad was incredible. When we were driving up I spotted this castle looking building in the distance and joked to the other guys that we'd arrived... turns out we had!"

Quotes of the week

I was really looking forward to interviewing Kevin Phillips last week and he didn't disappoint. We had a great chat about his career and all he's achieved and he was really open about it all.

And if his goal on Saturday for Blackpool is anything to go by he's still got a few years left in him, it was a quality strike.

He's a great talker and it's a shame we couldn't fit the whole interview into the show, because we got some great shots of his garden where he's got a full size goal! I asked if it was for him or his kids and he admitted it was for him as much as them!

It wasn't just the garden that was great - his whole pad was incredible. When we were driving up I spotted this castle-looking building in the distance and joked to the other guys that we'd arrived... turns out we had!

There was no joking around in the studio on Saturday when Ndamukong Suh told Helen and Max he was happy to tackle me, though - I was absolutely bricking it!

Luckily he took it really easy on me. I thought he was going to absolutely belt me, but he was really nice.

Everyone was asking me afterwards if he was just fat, but I can tell you now when I tried to pick him up all I could feel was pure muscle! And then he picked me up as if I was a fly to him. It wasn't an effort at all. Ridiculous!

Frozen

Both my Saturday and Sunday League games were called off because of frozen pitches at the weekend, so I was having a nice relaxing and really enjoyable weekend until about 5.20pm on Sunday, when the first of Man Utd's goals went in.

I almost don't know what to say about that game, but one thing's for sure, a few years ago Chelsea would never have drawn a match they were leading 3-0. You just can't concede three goals in the space of 26 minutes. You can't.

Man Utd are obviously a good team, but it's not like they're Barcelona!

I don't think the second United penalty should ever have been given, but even so we should never have got ourselves into that position in the first place.

The only good thing to come out of the game was another great performance for Juan Mata, which he capped off with an incredible goal.

Gianfranco Zola is probably my all-time favourite Chelsea player and I think Mata is in that mould. He doesn't have a lot of pace, but he's such a good player technically and he never gives the ball away. Class.

Singing sensation

Onto this week and I had a great day in Manchester on Wednesday when I discovered that Shane Long could be an international singing sensation!

I went up to interview him and his Republic of Ireland team mate Kevin Doyle and I found out while I was doing my research that he could play a bit of guitar, so I took one up with me because I thought it could be quite funny.

But it wasn't funny at all... it was amazingly good! When he joined Reading they made him sing 'No Woman, No Cry' by Bob Marley, so I asked him to do it again hoping for a bit of comedy, but as soon as he started everyone went silent - he was awesome!

There was some great banter between the two of them, as you'd expect, and things got even more interesting when the news broke that Fabio Capello had resigned halfway through the interview.

I ask the boys what they made of it and they were as surprised as the rest of us, but Shane was adamant about one thing; he didn't want to see Roy Hodgson get the job because he didn't want to see him leave West Brom.

Personally, I can't say I'm that upset about seeing Capello go. I don't think he ever got the best out of the players and the World Cup was a disaster. He probably should've gone straight after that.

Looking ahead now, like most people I'd love to see Harry Redknapp get the job. He's the outstanding English candidate, has done a great job with Spurs and all the players respect him... what more can you ask for?

Let's just hope he takes it now!

Later,

Bob Curry (Aston Villa fan) says... Hi Tubes, everyone's been moaning about the weather but I really like the snow. So my question to you is what is your favourite season?

Tubes says: I don't mind the winter Bob, but if I had to pick it would definitely be summer. You can't beat being in a beer garden in shorts at about 10 o'clock at night! I think people are happier as well, especially girls who seem to run on solar power!

Jason Harris (Everton fan) says...Tuuuubesss! Can you settle an argument? I know you're a Chelsea fan but whose goal was better at the weekend; Cisse for Newcastle or Mata?

Tubes says: For me it has to be Mata's Jason. Cisse's goal was brilliant, too, but he had time to compose himself and shoot. Whereas Mata's was on the volley and he was on the run, so I think it was probably technically harder.
