Meeting Phillips and spoofing Goldenballs

Last Updated: 01/02/12 5:46pm

So this isn't as busy a week as I thought it would be.

I was supposed to interviewing Emmanuel Frimpong and doing a junket with the cast of 'This Means War' but both have fallen through.

These things happen and you get used to it, but it is a bit annoying sometimes. Mainly because going out and meeting people is probably one of my favourite parts of the job.

The good news is I should still be heading up to Blackpool to have a chat with Kevin Phillips later this week... fingers crossed anyway!

I can't believe he's still banging them in at 38. I guess he's the perfect example to all young players starting out that if you look after yourself and you're lucky with injuries, you can play well into your late 30s and maybe even longer.

He's only started 14 games this season, but he's got 10 goals which is a pretty incredible record... must be that sea air!

Pants

With the other two interviews falling through I've got time to spoof the new David Beckham H&M advert, which should be interesting.

If you've not seen or heard about it, he's modelling their new underwear range so it looks like I'm going to have to shave my back before we film that!

I think someone will be drawing some fake tattoos on me, as well, just to make it as authentic as possible!

I'm probably not in as good as shape as him right now, but I did manage to play 90 minutes on Saturday and then again on Sunday.

The game on Sunday was after my 30th celebrations as well, so that was a decent effort. Although we lost the games 1-0 and 4-1, so it was actually a bit of a nightmare.

The fact that I managed to get up and play on Sunday should tell you how well behaved I was on Saturday night though. I don't feel any different, but maybe I am getting wiser with my old age!

Excuses

As for Chelsea, I was relieved to see us get a point against Swansea in the end, but if I'm honest I'm starting to run out of excuses for the performances.

I don't understand the decision not to start with Michael Essien or Gary Cahill either. They're both fit and raring to go so I'm at a loss to explain why they're both warming the bench at the moment.

Hopefully the match against Man Utd on Sunday will get us back on track, but even that feels a bit strange right now because in the past five years it's been a top of the table clash, but right now we're 12 points off Man City.

It's a weird feeling because Chelsea fans have been spoilt in recent years, so to be so far off the pace just feels odd.

That said, I still think we'll win on Sunday and we have to because it's so important to finish in the top four. Realistically though, third is probably the best we can do this season.

I hope I'm feeling a lot more optimistic after Sunday!

Jack Green (Burnley fan) says...Tuuubes! If you was the last man on earth which woman would you want to spend your last day with and why?

Tubes says: That's a tough one Jack, there's obviously quite a list to choose from, but I think I'd say Alesha Dixon because she's a great singer and she'd keep me entertained.
