Savage: enjoying his football

The festive season is upon us and that means only one thing, lots and lots of football!

As usual Soccer AM will have all the goals and action from the past week and three of the finest guest you will find on a Saturday morning.

First through the tunnel will be the one and only Robbie Savage!

The Derby County midfielder is renowned for his all action style on the football pitch, as well as getting under the skin of the opposition and their fans!

However, his natural talent as a footballer has never been in doubt having been capped by Wales 41 times in an international career that lasted ten years.

After spending two years in Manchester United's youth academy, Savage moved to Crewe Alexander where his performances caught the eye of Leicester City.

In 1997 he moved to Filbert Street, where he went on to win the League Cup with the Foxes under the guidance of Martin O'Neil.

Successful spells at Birmingham and Blackburn followed and in 2008 he joined Derby County. The Rams are currently 15th in the Championship, but have been buoyed by their performances in the Carling Cup having made the semi-finals.

We'll be finding out who he has his eyes set on for the semis and where he sees his future.

Our second guest this week is none other than the hilarious Dara O'Briain.

The award winning Irish comedian has forged a successful stand-up career over the last ten years and has also appeared on and hosted various panel shows, including Mock the Week.

When reviewing one of his performances, the Evening Standard's Bruce Dessau noted the following: "If you don't laugh at O Briain, check your pulse, you must be dead."

Suffice to say we're expecting more than a few laughs when he makes his second appearance on the show!

The former children's presenter is much more than just a funny man though, having studied maths and theoretical science at University College Dublin and we will be finding out just how brainy he is!

Completing this week's line up will be American indie rockers, We Are Scientists!

The band, who describe their sound as 'rock music of the thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely danceable, implicitly humanist variety', have toured with both the Arctic Monkeys and the Kaiser Chiefs.

While, their newest album entitled Brain Thrust Mastery reached number 11 in the UK album charts in March.

The boys will no doubt be telling us why they are in the UK and what bizarre methods they employed to promote their album.

And of course that's not all, because we'll have all your usual favourites too, including This Is My Club with Bristol City, Our Man in A Caff, Small Talk, the Xmas table and the tech table, Ollie-ism, Cambridge's Crossbar Challenge and Skill Skool with Crystal Palace's youngsters!

Plus, Joleon Lescott will take centre stage in I Love Football, Steve shows us his latest goal celebration, Rocket Takes One for the Team and we see freestyler Jeremy Lynch attempting to break not one, not two, not three... but four world records!

So tune in for Soccer AM, Saturday, 9am, Sky Sports 1 and Sky 1.
