Floyd Mayweather's money will not last, says Larry Holmes

Larry Holmes is a big Floyd Mayweather fan - but fears the Money will run out.

The former heavyweight champion admits that the current undefeated, best pound-for-pound in the world is the one fighter that keeps him interested in the sport.

"He is crazy. Crazy rich! If I made $45million in one day I would be the nicest man on earth. But no, he won't keep it."

Holmes rates Mayweather as easily the best in the business but was also quick to point out that his life outside the ring is just as interesting - and the unbeaten record might well last but his millions won't, according to the Eastern Assassin.

"There's only one boxer I really follow," Holmes told Ringside Special.

"There are a couple - (Manny) Paquiao for instance - that I follow but they don't really interest me.

"The story of Mayweather interests me more than his fights!

"He is crazy. Crazy rich! If I made $45million in one day I would be the nicest man on earth. But no, he won't keep it."

Holmes readily admitted that his comeback fight against Mike Tyson took place - and was certainly moved forward - with money a big part.

He also told the show just what he had wasted his money and believes it is a lesson that few boxers will learn from - including the man who earns far and away the most.

"Money's got no friends," he said - referring to cash, not Mayweather himself.

"Money will be with you in the morning, with him, with her and might even get to my pocket!

"But money has no friends because people who have money always see and buy things they want - but don't really need.

"Like Floyd Maywaether... and like Larry Holmes did!"
