Women's Rugby is the latest sport to feature in our Get Involved series

You may be surprised to hear just how popular rugby has become as a participation sport for British women.

According to statistics from Sport England it is one of the fastest growing forms of the sport worldwide with 13,645 women registering to play in England in 2011/12 alone.

There has been an 87 per cent increase in the number of females playing the game since records began in 2004/05. There are now 200,000 registered women competing in fifteens and sevens and 800,000 women and girls participating in leisure rugby around the world.

But why is rugby so popular among females?

As part of our Get Involved series, we visited Aylesford Bulls Rugby Club, the Kent side with an unbeaten women's team.

As you can see from our video report, they introduce girls as young as four-years-old to the sport and they learn confidence, co-ordination and social skills.

They also said women should not be too concerned about the physicality of the game because it's played in a safe and well-controlled manner.

So why not find a club and get involved? See the links below for more information...
