Player-coach Tamsin Greenway is overwhelmed Surrey Storm finally have something to show for their efforts after winning the Netball Superleague for the first time.

Storm dominated Hertfordshire Mavericks in front of a crowd of 6,000 spectators as they recorded a 56-39 victory at London’s Copper Box Arena last weekend.

"These moments are special when you've worked so hard for something," Greenway told the SportsWomen show on Sky Sports News HQ.

"It's been a long journey for a lot of us that started at Storm six years ago so to actually finally get that trophy was a nice feeling."

Storm were losing finalists in 2013 and 2014 and suffered a heart-wrenching last-minute defeat at the hands of Manchester Thunder in last year’s Grand Final.

"We went undefeated that whole season," Greenway said. "Perhaps we shouldn’t have done, but we built on it and got to the final.

"We went in there as favourites and I’ve seen the clip of us losing in the last 28 seconds so many times. It was a crazy final last year but every time we’ve been in that final and not won it gives you that drive to go on and succeed.

"You can’t match the experience that you get by being in those situations. You can’t ever put that in training, you can’t put that type of pressure on people. That experience definitely helped us to push on."
