Barnet manager Martin Allen has credited Bournemouth for their attacking style following a victory over Bolton that virtually assured Eddie Howe's side of Premier League football next year.

The Cherries breezed to a 3-0 win in front of the Sky Sports cameras - putting them three points and 19 goals clear of Middlesbrough with just one game to play - and Allen told Sky Sports News HQ's The Morning View that Howe's ethos is heavily influenced by Barcelona.

The Barnet boss, whose side won promotion to the Football League themselves at the weekend, said: "Eddie Howe's always advocated the Barcelona style. He's been over there to study there and everything he does right the way through the lower divisions is to play the Barca way.

"We watched the game last night and they were very impressive. It's great to score that amount of goals. This lad Matt Ritchie was a tremendous player at Swindon. He's a former Portsmouth player and he's fantastic.

"Marc Pugh on the other wing I tried to sign so many times. He's a fantastic player. It's great for these players to come from the lower divisions up to the Premier League. it gives all the players hope that you can make that change.

"They've spent quite a lot of money. They've got a big wage bill. They've recruited a lot of players from the lower level, picking the best ones. The centre-forward, Callum Wilson, I saw him play a couple of years ago with Coventry and he's an outstanding player.

"This morning when Eddie is waking up, he'll know it's a fantastic achievement but he'll be asking already if his players are good enough and how many new players he'll have to sign?

"The spine of the team will need strengthening - he'll need more centre-backs, more central midfielders and a couple more centre-forwards. It will leave a lot of people very disappointed."

Former Chelsea defender Tony Gale was more cautious over Bournemouth's prospects in the top flight - warning that their free-flowing style may lead to a crisis of confidence should early-season results not go their way.

"The big question is, most of those players have no Premier League experience," he said. "I liken them to a Swindon side that came up years ago and we played against them. They played great football and had done it throughout the second division.

"They came up and they wanted to play that kind of football and they got banged up a few times. Then the confidence goes.

"When you get results playing that football you play better and better but when results going against you, all of a sudden it becomes a different game. I really hope they can do it."
