Capital One Cup: Paul Peschisolido backs Sheffield United for final

Paul Peschisolido feels Sheffield United have a decent chance of beating Tottenham to reach the final of the Capital One Cup.

The Blades lost 1-0 at White Hart Lane in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday, with Spurs having to wait until the 74th minute to score the winner through an Andros Townsend penalty.

Former United player Peschisolido believes their manager Nigel Clough will be happier than his counterpart Mauricio Pochettino with the result and backed them to secure their place at Wembley.

“In the first half they kept Tottenham to a couple of shots from distance and looked good on the counter-attack,” Peschisolido told The Morning View on Sky Sports News HQ.

“Before the game Nigel would have been happy to remain in the game. Now they will take them to Bramall Lane with a full ground. I think they can go there and get a result.”

Former Republic of Ireland international Matt Holland also feels United are in with a chance of causing an upset but is convinced the second leg will be a different affair to the first.

“They have a good record against Premier League teams over the last couple of seasons,” said Holland.

“They have already knocked out Southampton and West Ham in this competition this season, as well as Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup.

“It will be a terrific atmosphere and Spurs will know they are in a game. It will be slightly different, though. Sheffield United will have to be more adventurous and will have to come out against Tottenham a little more.

“They had one or two chances on the counter-attack but I feel there will be more gaps for Tottenham to exploit.

“Tottenham were coming up against eight players (behind the ball) and found that difficult to break down but I think it will be different away from home.”
