Sky Sports will show the All-Ireland Gaelic football and hurling Championships after securing a three-year deal to show live matches from June 2014.

For the first time, Sky Sports viewers can enjoy the excitement, passion and drama of Ireland's two most popular sports, with weekly live coverage plus the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals from each code.

The agreement comprises 20 live matches including the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals exclusively live in the UK, 14 matches exclusively live in Ireland, with the All-Ireland semi-finals and final also live.

Sky Sports News will show highlights as well as news, interviews and results on their 24-hour news channel, while skysports.com will have match reports, fixtures and interviews as well as news, blogs, videos and galleries.

Live GAA matches will also be available to watch on mobile for the first time at no extra cost to Sky Sports subscribers via Sky Go.

Sky Sports' live coverage begins in Nowlan Park on June 7 for the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final between Kilkenny and Offaly.

Managing Director of Sky Sports Barney Francis said: "We're delighted to be awarded the rights and I'm sure our viewers will be captivated by the thrill and passion of Gaelic football and hurling.

"We are excited to be working with the GAA and providing extensive coverage to their exhilarating sports throughout the summer.

"These matches will join a great line-up of Irish sport on Sky Sports that includes UEFA World Cup Qualifiers, RaboDirect Pro 12, Euro 2016 Qualifiers, Irish Open golf, Irish rugby union Autumn Internationals and summer tour to Argentina, Premier League darts and more."

'Quality content'

Managing Director of Sky Ireland JD Buckley said: "It's a privilege to be partnering with the GAA to bring our customers top quality content from our national game.

"We are committed to providing the best programming, service and value to our customers and Sky Sports will offer world class production values and a great viewing experience to GAA fans across the country.

"This marks another milestone in our continued investment in Ireland to better satisfy our customers."

Paraic Duffy, Director General of the GAA said: "We are delighted to have awarded Sky Sports the rights to show a third of the televised games in the season.

"This agreement will boost our reach to new audiences in the UK as well as secure a new depth of coverage for viewers in Ireland. This is great news for fans, players and the sport and look forward to working with the best in the business."

GAA fans with a Sky Sports subscription can watch live on TV, online and on mobile and tablet devices via Sky Go or the award-winning Sky Sports for iPad app, which are both free for subscribers to download at no extra cost. Non-subscribers can also watch these games on mobile, which is a first in Ireland, by downloading the Sky Sports TV app for just £4.99/€5.99 a month.
