Get Involved visited Glebe FC in Kent this week to meet a local hero.

Rocky McMillan was a city trader for 20 years but he's now chairman of Glebe FC.

Rocky's voluntary role sees him commit six days a week to the club he founded in 1995.

"We joined the London Football Association with one team of 12 lads," he said. "We've grown year on year and we've now got 26 teams with nearly 350 kids."

Glebe FC sides range from under-seven to under-18 level, and, under Rocky's guidance, have earned plenty of on and off field success - the Glebe capturing seven London Cups and numerous League titles, as well as being awarded an FA Charter for Excellence award.

Leyton Orient's Elyon Egbeku is a former Glebe FC player and has fond memories of his time under Rocky's tuition.

"He took me to my first trial at Crystal Palace," said the youth team striker.

"Rocky knows a lot of people, he's got a load of friends in the game and it's good having someone like that around you who can advise you."

Important

But Rocky believes his club have an important role to play aside from their success in local leagues and tournaments.

"When there were the riots in London last July we had 80 or 90 16-17-year-olds training that night," he said.

"We know they weren't involved. Would they have been ionvovled? They certainly come from that area. But they were playing football."
