Sky Sports understands that Phil Brown has agreed to take charge of League One Hartlepool United.
The 53-year-old emerged as the leading candidate for the Victoria Park hot-seat over the weekend ahead of the likes of Craig Short, John Hughes and Colin Cooper.
Brown confirmed to Sky Sports News Radio earlier this week that he was ready to take charge of the club he began his playing career with and played over 200 games for.
Sky Sports now understands that Brown has agreed terms with Hartlepool and will be confirmed as their new manager on Tuesday.
Brown's first game in charge of the club will be at home to Coventry City on Saturday.
