England are hoping Kevin Pietersen's unbeaten century against Haryana will help his 'reintegration' into the side.

Pietersen smacked 110 not out, his century coming off just 86 balls as England posted 408-3 on the opening day of the final warm-up match before next week's first Test with India.

England's batsmen found it easy going against a largely inexperienced Haryana attack at the Sardar Patel Stadium B Ground but Pietersen put his contract wrangles and the text-message scandal further behind him with a superb innings.

Ian Bell, who helped himself to an unbeaten half century, said: "Everything's gone really well for us as a group, and for Kevin.

"He's very much a guy who just likes to get bat on ball, and I think he'll be very happy going into the first Test match with that kind of innings under his belt.

"I'm sure he'll be a lot happier today, having scored a hundred. But he'll be a lot happier (still) if he scores one in the next Test."

"It would be great if he could come out and play some innings like he has in recent times.

"We know if he gets in he can turn a Test match. So we want him in the best nick we can. The pressure is a lot more on the bowler when he does things like that."

Stuart Broad and Steven Finn - who both missed the final warm-up because of injury - are reportedly making good progress from in their injuries and could be fit for the opening Test.
