The scout reports...

Spas Delev is emerging as one of Eastern Europe's most highly-rated young players and also the next big hope of Bulgarian football. The 21-year-old is currently starring for CSKA and was capped by Bulgaria for the first time earlier this year. So what is Delev all about, is he the future of Bulgarian football? Well quite possibly. The diminutive youngster only made his professional debut in 2008, but he has quickly made a name for himself. He began his career with Pirin Blagoevgrad and he impressed immediately in his first season, and was voted Best Young Player in Bulgaria. Having also been called up to the Bulgarian Under-21 side, he was being tracked by a number of clubs and CSKA Sofia agreed an initial one-year loan deal for him - although that soon turned into a permanent deal and he penned a three-year deal. He is now an integral part of their team and this season alone he he scored 12-goals in 22 starts, which is impressive considering he is not always played in a striking role. More often than not Delev plays out wide and attacks from the flank, but no matter his position he is never shy from shooting or getting into an attacking position. And that picks up on Delev's real ability, and that is goal-scoring. He has a good footballing brain which allows him not just to pick a pass, but also to time his runs to perfection. Almost all of his work is done in the latter third, but that is why he in the team, to create and/or score goals. Delev is small, but his powerful frame and low-centre of gravity make him a real attacking presence despite his size. His progress was rewarded earlier this year when he made his Bulgaria debut against Switzerland in March.

The scout says...

A very exciting young talent, who looks likely to move on this summer, and if he continues this progress he will find himself playing in one of Europe's top leagues very soon. Despite being 21, Delev looks ready to move on - but another year in Bulgaria would not harm him at all.
