The scout reports...

The Sky Sports Scout runs the rule over Danish prospect Frederik Sorensen.

Sorensen has just emerged for Juventus in recent weeks after being drafted into their first team.

The 18-year-old joined Juve in the summer on an initial 10-day trial and he impressed enough for the Italian club to set up a season-long loan deal.

But the initial assessment was for Sorensen to spend his time in their youth set-up with Juve's Primavera team.

However, at the end of October, Juve suffered an injury crisis in defence when Leandro Rinaudo and Zdenek Grygera were ruled out for several months, which led to Sorensen being called into the first-team squad.

Then Giorgio Chiellini and Nicola Legrottaglie both picked up injuries ahead of their clash with Cesena, and Sorensen was handed a shock call-up to play alongside Leonardo Bonucci.

Sorensen performed admirably and has been involved with the first team ever since. So from being in Lyngby's reserves just six months ago, Sorensen now finds himself fighting for a first-team place with one of Europe's biggest clubs.

Sorensen is still actually only on loan at Juve from Lyngby, who he joined in 2007 from youth side Himmerlev-Veddelev, but it is fully expected that Juve will, if they have not already, seal his permanent signature.

But have Juve uncovered one of Europe's brightest defensive prospects? Well possibly they have.

Sorensen is a tall, uncompromising defender - very much in an old-fashioned English central defender style.

He is excellent in the air, and brave in the tackle and, although technically there is room for improvement, where better than Italy to hone those skills.

The scout says...

Sorensen's emergence has come as a shock, but it shows that sometimes a youngster only needs to be given a chance.

He will now surely be given the opportunity to progress at Juve, and everything is in place for him to be a huge success in Turin.
