The scout reports...

Fraser Fyvie is one of the most talked about players to emerge from Scotland in recent years.

The Sky Sports Scout now checks on the Aberdeen starlet, who is Aberdeen-born and is a graduate of their youth system.

But Fyvie hardly had time to play with his young colleagues before being accelerated into the first team.

Indeed Fyvie made history when he was handed his debut at the start of the season as he became the youngest player ever for Aberdeen.

Fyvie's record-breaking debut really brought him to the fore in the media, but he was already on the radar of many clubs - who had been tracking his progress with Scotland's youth sides.

Fyvie has just turned 17, but astonishingly he already has nearly 30 first-team games under his belt.

The young midfielder is already being heralded as Scotland's latest great hope.

Fyvie is no doubt a huge, huge talent and his commitment alone would embarrass players ten years his senior.

Despite his small frame, Fyvie is hugely combative - but he is also full of skill and poise, which make him stand out from the crowd.

He can pick a pass and is not lacking pace, which has seen him tried in a wide role for his club - but he is very much a central midfielder.

Is he Scotland's answer to Paul Scholes? Well it is true to say the ginger hair is not the only likeness for Fyvie, but he has a long way to go before any such comparisons could be made.

But Fyvie has a huge future ahead of him, and Aberdeen did well to tie him down to a three-year deal earlier this year.

The scout says...

Fyvie needs time to adapt and mature, and he should get that with Aberdeen and regular first-team football is a huge plus point.

If his progress continues, it remains to be seen whether Aberdeen could shun any big bids from south of the border.
