Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville thinks there will be "plenty of clubs" looking at signing Burnley striker Danny Ings when his contract expires in the summer.

Burnley held Tottenham to a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon and Ings, who has hit nine league goals so far this campaign, had a glorious chance to seal all three points for his side when he was put through one-on-one with Michel Vorm.

The England Under-21 striker, who has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Tottenham and Real Sociedad in the summer after running down his contract, fluffed his lines, firing his shot straight at the Spurs keeper but Neville, speaking to The Gary Neville Podcast, was hugely impressed with his performance.

"I think his touch is fantastic. In the game today, he was a nuisance," said Neville.

"He maybe doesn’t get the high quality stuff into him that he would probably want, and I would imagine lots of clubs are looking at him.

"I saw a story this morning that Burnley want him to stay in this country so they can get some compensation for him. And they probably deserve some compensation for him.

"I think they’ve been used to that [speculation] around here all season, he’s been aware of the situation for a long time, it hasn’t just crept up on them.

"It would be a real body blow to a club like this, who are obviously on a tight budget, for them to lose a player of that talent on a free transfer abroad.

"I have to say he’s applying himself well but all he has to do in these last seven games is score the goals that Burnley need to keep them up.

"He could have got the winner today, he had the two best moments for Burnley, but in the next few weeks they’re going to need three or four goals from him if they’re going to stay in this league."

However, Neville thinks Burnley's Premier League survival hopes are slim but believes Sean Dyche and his squad deserve plenty of credit for still being in with a chance of beating the drop with just seven games remaining.

"I think it’ll be difficult for them to survive, I really do,” Neville added.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says he was delighted with the way his team kept Tottenham's attacking threats quiet.

"On a day like today, if they’d had gone to try and risk and win the game, they could have lost it. But I think they’re the types of games where they really are on top, where they maybe look back and think a goal there might be the difference between us staying up and not.

"They could, and I hope they do, for the effort and work-rate that they’ve put in to the actual season, but I think they might just fall short on that quality element, the scoring goals.

"Four they’ve not scored in, out of the last five now. Only that one goal against City, which was obviously a big goal, but that’s where, at the end of the season, you’ll look back and think, ‘That’s cost us’ if you were Burnley.

"I think they’ll struggle, but they’ve got a chance, and the fact that they’re in with a chance of staying up is huge credit to Sean Dyche and his players."
