Wigan have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international Billy McKay from Inverness for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old striker, who has scored 10 goals for the Scottish Premiership side this term, moves to the DW Stadium on a long-term deal.

McKay becomes Latics' second permanent signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Jason Pearce from Leeds earlier on Friday.

"We've been looking at Billy for some time," Wigan boss Malky Mackay told the club's official website.

"He lives to score and his record over the past two seasons speaks for itself, where he's scored a lot of goals and been deadly for Inverness.

"He can't wait to begin the next part of his career and we are delighted to bring him on board, we feel he has the potential to make a great impact at Wigan Athletic, he's a player who comes alive in the box, a sniffer around the opposition goal and certainly a type of player we feel can do well with us."
