Huddersfield striker Martin Paterson has joined Major League Soccer side Orlando City on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
The 27-year-old will be out of contract with Huddersfield in the summer and manager Chris Powell cannot guarantee the Northern Ireland international first-team football.
"Martin is a senior player and wants to be playing regularly at this stage in his life, which is something I cannot offer him at this club," Powell told the club's official website.
"As a result, this move is a good one for everyone involved. Moving to Orlando is a great opportunity for Martin and his family, so on behalf of the club I'd like to wish him well. He's a great lad."
Paterson joined Huddersfield as a free agent following his release from Burnley in the summer of 2013 and has scored six goals in 29 appearances.
He is the fifth player to leave Huddersfield during the current transfer window following the exits of Jon Stead (Bradford, loan), Adam Hammill (Rotherham, loan), Danny Ward (Rotherham) and Lee Peltier (Cardiff).
