Derry keen to keep duo

Notts County boss Shaun Derry is hoping to keep on-loan Nottingham Forest pair Louis Laing and Stephen McLaughlin at the club.

Laing's loan is due to expire after Saturday's home game against fellow promotion hopefuls Swindon, while McLaughlin's deal expires at the end of the month. Derry would like to extend their stays at Meadow Lane, even sign the duo on permanent deals if possible, but he admits such decisions are out of his hands. "As it stands at the minute Louis' loan spell ends on December 13," Derry told the Nottingham Post. "We have to have discussions with Forest, but he has done really, really, well. "Louis has probably got to ask the question about where he features at Forest. "If we get the opportunity to make it that bit more permanent then we will have to look at it, because he's a very good player. "It's the same with Stephen and to be honest it's out of our hands. They are going to have to initiate that conversation with Forest. "I think they've really enjoyed playing for us and they've had minutes on the pitch too. "There are some conversations which need to take place."
