Celtic manager Ronny Deila admits he could bring in new faces during the January transfer window but only if they complement his current squad.

The Scottish champions and Premiership leaders face a League Cup semi-final against Rangers, a Scottish Cup fifth round tie with Dundee and a UEFA Europa League last-32 tie in the new year.

However, Norwegian Deila said the balance of the team would be paramount ahead of any acquisitions.

You need a big squad but not too big as you have people who are here and not in the team and it’s important to find the balance to keep up the spirit in the team

He said: “We have conversations all the time about what we need and how to progress. We want to get in players that can make us better and that is the most important thing. If it’s one or two or three, we have to see.

"We have to find the right balance between having a good enough and a big enough squad to be in four competitions.

“There is also the balance of giving young players a chance. It’s something we consider all the time and we have to find the right solution.”

Celtic were drawn against former Hoops midfielder Paul Hartley’s Dundee for their Scottish Cup clash and the Bhoys boss added: “It will be a tough game but every game away is always tough. It’s a long time before we play the game but if we are on top we know we have a good chance to go through.

“I know it will be tricky and the cup is always difficult. We played them twice this year so we know it’s going to be tough but we can be much better than when we played them away last time, and if we do that we have a good chance to win.”
