Ipswich have recalled defender Elliott Hewitt from his loan spell at Colchester following a host of injuries at Portman Road.

The 20-year-old, who has made four first-team appearances this season, has been with the League One side since October. Hewitt is expected to be in the Town squad for Tuesday's home Championship encounter with Wolves. Boss Mick McCarthy told the club's official website: "We've recalled Elliott from Colchester and he's fit and ready to play. "That's why he went there in the first place - to keep himself sharp - and we've only had Matt Clarke as our sub defender so Elliott gives us more depth to the backline." Colchester boss Tony Humes - a former Town defender - told www.cu-fc.com: "We were really pleased with Elliott over the past month and would have liked to keep him longer. "Mick has taken Elliott back with the month's loan done but we'll certainly be keeping an eye on his progress."
