McAlinden recalled by Wolves

Striker Liam McAlinden's loan stay at Fleetwood has been cut short after his parent club Wolves elected to recall him.

The 21-year-old scored twice in the five appearances he made for the Highbury club and was due to remain with the Cod Army for 93 days, but Wolves have invoked their 28-day recall clause. Kenny Jackett's side may have chosen to act because Bakary Sako is a doubt for their derby clash with Birmingham this weekend due to a groin problem. Explaining the decision to recall McAlinden, Jackett told Wolves' official website: "He's had a good loan spell, he's got up to speed with the games - which is the purpose of the loan system - and we welcome him back now as we head into three tough games. "He'll increase our options along our front line. He's got a couple of goals in League One for Fleetwood and he's had a few 90 minutes. "We're making sure we're as strong as we possibly can be going into a vital group of games against difficult opposition." Meanwhile, Fleetwood have also announced midfielder Stewart Murdoch has joined Northampton on a loan deal until January.
