Wolverhampton Wanderers are checking on USA international Juan Agudelo and are confident a deal can be done, should they pursue one.
The 21-year-old forward agreed a pre-contract deal with Stoke City in August 2013, but saw a move break down as he was unable to secure a work permit.
The Premier League outfit continued to press the issue but eventually conceded defeat in May, after seeing Agudelo spend the second half of last season on loan at Utrecht.
He’s very strong and a good finisher, and in training he looks quite mobile – he has a bit of everything.
The Colombia-born youngster is now available as a free agent and Wolves manager Kenny Jackett has taken the opportunity to cast an eye over a player Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes claims could be worth £10million in the not too distant future.
Jackett told the Express and Star on his chances of bringing Agudelo on board: "I don’t think the work permit is an issue. Everything looks okay.
"We haven’t applied for one because we haven’t decided to sign him yet, but the enquiries we’ve made so far suggest everything will be fine if we want to take him.
"He’s 21 so if we do sign him, we’ll be looking to make him a first-team striker. He’s been on trial this week so we’ll have a look at him in the game (a friendly against Queens Park Rangers on Friday) and then we’ll talk."
He added on a player who has also spent time training with Orlando City: "He’s over here full stop - he’s not waiting to go back to the States, he’s very keen to get into English football.
"He’s very strong and a good finisher, and in training he looks quite mobile – he has a bit of everything."
