Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has offered a short-term contract to former West Ham midfielder Jack Collison.
The 25-year-old Wales international has been training with Town, and also with Championship rivals Birmingham, and is now weighing up his options.
"I offered him exactly the same as Darren Ambrose, to January, and I've told him that offer still stands," McCarthy told the East Anglian Daily Times.
"Things all seem sweet now but we get to November and suddenly we've got a flu epidemic and we've people with injuries and suspensions so another body of that quality would be nice."
Collison made more than 100 appearances in seven years at Upton Park before he was released at the end of last season.
