Kenneth Omeruo believes another loan move to Middlesbrough is the best option for him at this stage of his career following talks with Jose Mourinho and Michael Emenalo.

Omeruo signed a new long-term deal at Chelsea in May but does not figure in Mourinho’s first-team plans for this season and Boro boss Aitor Karanka confirmed earlier this week that he would be coming back to The Riverside on loan.

The 20-year-old defender spent time with the Championship club last season and is happy to be heading back there, having spoken with Chelsea boss Mourinho and technical director Michael Emenalo about his future.

“I had a chat with Michael Emenalo and after hearing the plans Chelsea had for me next season, I think the best place for me to achieve this goal is to go back to Middlesbrough,” he told supersport.com.

“I want to thank Chelsea and according to Mourinho, Middlesbrough is the best place for me to gain enough experience and play a lot of games.

“I made a decision after hearing from Mourinho and Emenalo and I am happy with my decision.”
