Hartlepool have made former Middlesbrough utility man Stuart Parnaby their second signing of the week.

The 31-year-old finished a second stint with Middlesbrough earlier this summer and joins the League Two club on a free transfer. The experienced Englishman made a total of 148 appearances for Boro, with just three coming last season. He had a short loan spell with Halifax in 2000 and he left Teesside for Birmingham in 2007, where he spent four years, winning the League Cup in 2011, before making his return to the Riverside Stadium. The signing of Parnaby comes just two days after Pools manager Colin Cooper signed another former Boro player in Matthew Bates.
