Jack Hobbs has been brought back to Hull City from his loan at Nottingham Forest following James Chester's injury.
Hobbs' return means he will provide additional defensive back-up in Steve Bruce's squad for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.
But he will be ineligible to play in their FA Cup fourth round tie with Southend this weekend having already featured in the competition for Forest.
Chester limped off during the Tigers' 1-0 defeat at Norwich on Saturday and he is likely to miss six league games after suffering a similar hamstring injury to the one that kept him out for 11 weeks earlier this season.
The defender, who was brought in from Leicester for £850,000 in the summer of 2011, made 27 appearances for Forest during his time at the City Ground and will now look to force his way into Bruce's first-team plans.
