Managerless Hartlepool have secured the services of Huddersfield midfielder Matt Crooks on a one-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old, who had a brief spell with Manchester United as a teenager, has signed in time to be included in Pools' squad for Tuesday night's League Two clash with Accrington. The versatile Crooks is a graduate of the Town Academy and made his senior Huddersfield debut as a defender in the defeat to Bournemouth on the opening day of the season. Pools are the third side he has linked up with on loan following spells at FC Halifax and Radcliffe Borough. Huddersfield boss Chris Powell told the club's official website: "This loan spell at Hartlepool will be an excellent challenge for Matt. "Hartlepool will be desperate for points and it puts Matt into a situation where winning really matters, which will be excellent for his development." Pools, with Sam Collins in caretaker charge following the departure of Colin Cooper, sit 22nd in League Two, one point above the relegation zone.
