Fulham are prepared to sanction another loan move for Italian frontman Marcello Trotta.

The 22-year-old has spent much of the last two seasons in Sky Bet League One with Brentford.

His first season at Griffin Park ended in disappointment, as he missed a crucial final day penalty, but he was able to help fire the club to promotion in 2013/14.

There’s been a couple of potential loans and he’s looking to go out. There’s definitely mileage in that.

Trotta provided a steady stream of goals throughout a successful campaign, proving that he is capable of troubling defences at a Football League level.

He has, however, continued to be nudged down the pecking order at Craven Cottage by new signings – with Ross McCormack and Matt Smith joining over the summer.

As Fulham cannot guarantee him regular game time, caretaker coach Kit Symons has told the Italy U21 international that he is free to make another loan move if a suitable offer presents itself.

He said: “Marcello is a player I know well from the U18s and U21s.

“There’s been a couple of potential loans and he’s looking to go out. There’s definitely mileage in that.

“Footballers who are not playing are not much good to anyone and they won’t be happy themselves.

“We need to get the appropriate games programme for every player.”
