Barnsley manager Danny Wilson has swooped to sign Manchester City striker Devante Cole on a loan deal until January.

The 19-year-old, son of former City and Manchester United hitman Andrew, had also been interesting Motherwell. Cole, an England Under-18 international, could make his Tykes debut at Coventry in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday. "First and foremost, I'd like to thank Manchester City for allowing such a promising young player to join us," Wilson told the club's official website. "They trust us with his development. "What we've got is a highly-promising young lad who wants to start his league football off. He's had plenty of opportunities to go to clubs but he's decided we are the right one for him. We're very privileged in that respect. "Now we have to try and develop him by giving him games at first-team level. What he has got is great pace and an eye for goal. He can be a very exciting acquisition for us."
