Sterling-James given his chance

Cheltenham Town have signed winger Omari Sterling-James on a six-month contract.

The 20-year-old follows the earlier signing on Monday of defender Jack Deaman, who put pen to paper on a one-year deal. "Omari has impressed since coming in," Robins manager Mark Yates told the club's the official website. "He hasn't had any experience at all really. He has been at Birmingham and Walsall as a kid and didn't get a chance. "He has impressed us during pre-season because he can do a bit of everything and he excites people. "He has work to do, and plenty of it, but he has a great attitude and wants to learn and improve. "Hopefully we can give him that platform at some stage." Sterling-James began his career at his hometown club Birmingham before loan spells at Walsall and Alverchurch. He scored 13 goals last season at Southern League Premier Division Redditch United.
