Latest under our scout's gaze is Swindon Town star Charlie Austin - recommended by Sky Sports reader Dave Lovell.

The scout reports...

Charlie Austin was plucked from non-league football less than six months ago, but he is already being tipped for the top.

Sky Sports Scout now takes a close look a the 20-year-old, who is attracting big interest.

Austin's footballing adventure started as a youngster training with Reading, but a knee injury and his slight build saw him drift into non-league, firstly with Thatcham and then with Hungerford.

Hungerford's chairman at the time was Andrew Fitton, who would continue to check on the player, as he headed to the South Coast with Poole after his family moved away from Berkshire.

When Fitton took charge of Swindon he recommended him to Maurice Malpas, but no move emerged, while Austin's remarkable eye for goal was beginning to show itself as he bagged 48 goals in 43 games.

Last summer, Austin spent pre-season training with Bournemouth, but a transfer embargo meant they could not move for him, and then when Danny Wilson took notice of Fitton the striker finally got his chance to impress.

After a short trial, Austin penned a deal until the end of the season and he has not looked back since, and 12 goals in just 14 starts have followed.

Now just six months on Austin is being checked by almost every club from the Premier League and Championship, but Swindon have already handed him a new two-and-a-half year deal.

But how good is he? Well standing at 6ft 2in, some may brush him off as a mere target-man - but think again. Austin has much more to his game.

He is true striker, on sight of goal he will shoot and more often than not he will hit the target. Good in the air, with a better than average touch, Austin's biggest gift is his ability to read a situation and like any good striker be in the right place at the right time.

Some may think he can go missing in a game, but just as many defenders in League One think the same and that they are OK to forget about him, they are left with the task of picking the ball out of the net.

The scout says...

A terrific prospect, who has bypassed the youth ranks of professional football and has shown there is some genuine talent in non-league football.

Will benefit from at least another 12 months at the County Ground under Danny Willson's tutelage, but if his goalscoring feats continue the Robins may find it very hard to hang on to him.
