World No 2 Victoria Azarenka believes that playing against Serena Williams on a regular basis has helped to improve her game.

The Belarusian was beaten by Williams in the final of last year's US Open but ahead of this year's tournament feels that competing with her for the past 12 months has only made her a better player.

Azarenka defeated Williams in the Cincinnati Open final on Sunday and believes her preparation for the year's final grand slam has gone well.

"To play against Serena all the time, it's definitely taking you to the next level and pushing your limits," she said.

"It's an important test for me to have right before the Open; the whole preparation was about this tournament."

With such a confident boosting win behind her, the 24-year-old now believes she is ready for any eventuality at Flushing Meadows.

"To have the game develop and go through the test - I played different players last week, who I haven't played in a while, so it's also important to have those challenges in front of me so the whole preparation has been good and I'm really looking forward (to the US Open)," Azarenka commented.
