Dominika Cibulkova: Has fallen out of form after brilliant start to the year

Dominika Cibulkova: Has fallen out of form after brilliant start to the year

Cibulkova has enjoyed the best year of her career in 2014 but is not on form heading into the US Open.

The 25-year-old Slovakian showed plenty of potential earlier in her career but started to deliver on it during a campaign which at one point vaulted her into the world's top 10.

Her run to the final of the Australian Open included wins against Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska before she came up short when battling Li Na for the title. She continued her good form by taking the title in Acapulco.

However, her European clay-court campaign did not go so smoothly and she lost to Samantha Stosur in the third round of the French Open.

She was also dumped out in round three at Wimbledon and suffered early exits in all three of the events she has participated in in the run-up to the US Open.

Despite being just 5ft 3in tall, Cibulkova generates plenty of speed on her aggressive groundstrokes. She reached the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows in 2010.
