Stanislas Wawrinka: Was in fine form for most of 2013
Switzerland's No 2 enjoyed a breakout year in 2013 and will hope to carry the form over into the new season.
Wawrinka has often been a member of the top 20 - going as high as ninth in the rankings back in 2008 - but he has now finally started to make some noise at the bigger events.
He reached the final of the Copa Claro in Argentina in February before going on to win the Portugal Open and finish as the runner-up at the Madrid Masters. A run to the quarter-finals of the French Open followed before he reached the last four of the US Open.
The 2008 Olympic doubles gold medallist then ended his best year to date by reaching the last four at the ATP World Tour Finals, where he was beaten by eventual champion Novak Djokovic. At the start of 2014 he added the Chennai Open title to his collection.
His best result at the Australian Open was a quarter-final place in 2011, but last year he made more of an impression in an epic, five-set loss to Djokovic in the fourth round.
His powerful groundstrokes - including a spectacular single-handed backhand - can put any player in the world on the back foot.
