Victoria Azarenka Player Profile
Despite languishing at a lowly 27 in the WTA world rankings, Azarenka will head to Roland Garros as a live outsider.
Victoria Azarenka is clearly a far more dangerous player than the current WTA world rankings suggest and the two-time Grand Slam winner will be fancied by many tennis punters to progress far at Roland Garros.
The Belarus star has consistently challenged at the latter stages of major tournaments since reaching the 2011 Wimbledon semi-finals and indeed the WTA Tour Final that same year.
At the start of 2012 she claimed her first Grand Slam title with victory over Maria Sharapova in the Australian Open final before going on to appear in the last four at SW19 once again and then the final of the US Open, where she lost to Serena Williams.
Ending the year as world number one, Azarenka went on to retain her Australian Open crown but despite a career-best run to the French Open semi-finals and taking the runners-up trophy at Flushing Meadows for the second successive year, she lost her place at the top of the rankings to Serena Williams.
An injury-hit 2014 meant she was absent from the French Open while her failure to go beyond the quarter-finals at any of the other Grand Slams also contributed to her fall to 32 by the end of the year.
However, there have been signs of encouragement this season thanks to a run to the final in Doha, where she lost to Lucie Safarova, while she managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters on clay.
