Serena Williams: A five-time champion at the All England Club

World No 1 Williams has not looked as unstoppable as she did last year but is still a formidable opponent for anyone on grass.

The American regained top spot in the rankings in 2013 and added two more grand slams - at Roland Garros and Flushing Meadows - to her glittering portfolio.

She has not been able to recreate that form at the majors this year, bowing out in the last 16 of the Australian Open to Ana Ivanovic and, even more shockingly, losing in the second round of the French Open to Garbine Muguruza.

Williams did take victory in Miami but further losses to the likes of Alize Cornet in Dubai and Jana Cepelova in Charleston have erased some of her aura of invincibility.

But her pedigree at Wimbledon cannot be doubted having been crowned champion there five times. Last year she lost in the fourth round to eventual finalist Sabine Lisicki.

Williams has a serve which is unrivalled in the women's game and her power from the baseline invariably sees her dominate opponents. She has won 17 grand slam titles in total.
