Richard Gasquet: Reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year

French talent Gasquet reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year but his 2014 campaign has been derailed by injury.

The 27-year-old seemed to have a good foundation to build on this year but a back problem kept him out from March until the French Open at the end of May.

Since his return his best showings have been a run to the final of Eastbourne and a semi-final appearance at the Citi Open in Washington DC.

Consistency has always been Gasquet’s problem but he did manage to string together a solid run of results last year and he possesses a fluid game, including a beautiful one-handed backhand.

In 2013 he reached the last four at Flushing Meadows, where he was beaten by the unstoppable Rafael Nadal.
