Sky Bet have made Andy Murray favourite to win the US Open after the Scot won Wimbledon with a straight-sets victory over Novak Djokovic.

The 26-year-old has been cut from 9/4 to 13/8, moving ahead of Djokovic in the betting, for the season's next Grand Slam, while he is also favourite to triumph at SW19 next year, with the online bookmaker making him 7/4 to defend his title.

Murray is now also huge favourite to be named 2013 Sports Personality of the Year at 1/50 after becoming the first British male singles winner at the All England Club in 77 years.

However, having endured a disappointing clay-court campaign and missing the French Open, Murray is 4/1 to end the year as world number one, with current leader Djokovic 5/6.

Sky Bet's Ned Brooker said: "We've taken a fair hammering on Murray winning Wimbledon but we're in no place to complain given the disappointments he's endured previously when well backed.

"Liberated of the pressure of a first Grand Slam and now Wimbledon title, there's no saying what he can go on to achieve, so we're certainly wary of laying him in future, prompting us to make him favourite for the US Open."
