Every tennis match hinges on a handful of points. These were the key ones in Sunday's Australian Open final, as Novak Djokovic claimed his third successive title with a 6-7 7-6 6-3 6-2 victory over Andy Murray.

Point One

Leading by one set to love, Murray goes 0-40 up on the Djokovic serve in game two of the second set in the hunt for an early break. But assisted by a splayed backhand into the tramlines by Murray on his third and final break point chance, Djokovic rallies to take the game and level the set at 1-1.

Point Two

Djokovic seizes the advantage in the crucial second set tie-break when his superb return prompts Murray to net, giving the Serbian three set points at 6-3 in the breaker. Djokovic duly converts to level the match at one set all.

Point Three

Djokovic flips a stunning forehand winner at the end of a 36-stroke rally to go 0-15 up on the Murray serve at 4-3 in the third set. It gives him the initiative he needs to break Murray before serving out for a 2-1 lead.

Point Four

Djokovic claws his way out of a hole in the second game of the fourth set, summoning a big serve when he needs it most to claw the game back to deuce before going on to win it and level the set at 1-1.

Point Five

Murray, already a break down in the fourth set, is effectively consigned to defeat when, after a forehand into the tramlines gives Djokovic break point, the Scot double faults to go a double-break down.

Point Six

It may already have been too late, but Murray had a sniff at 0-30 on the Djokovic serve at 5-2. Djokovic completely fluffed an overhead, the ball hit the top of the net and dropped agonisingly onto Murray's side of the court. The Scot's reaction said it all and he lost the next three points and the match.
