Top seed and defending champion Bojana Jovanovski was made to work hard for her 4-6 6-4 6-3 victory over Urzula Radwanska to reach the semi-finals of the Tashkent Open.

The Serb was forced to come from behind after a single break of serve handed Radwanska the first set.

From that point on, the match became somewhat of a lottery, with both players regularly losing games on their own serve.

Jovanovski was broken three times in the second set, but managed four breaks of her own to level the scores.

The third set featured five more service breaks, with Jovanovski claiming three of them to finally seal an energy-sapping victory after two hours and 30 minutes.

Awaiting her in the semi-finals is local wild card Nigina Abduraimova, who beat countrywoman Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3 6-3.

The other semi-final will see Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko take on Italy's Karin Knapp.
