Pablo Andujar won his first title in more than two years after a straight-sets win over Juan Monaco at the Swiss Open final.
Andujar had triumphed only twice before - both times in Casablanca - but he claimed a third career crown on the clay of Gstaad, sealing a 6-3 7-5 victory.
The 71st-ranked Spaniard made a lone breakthrough in the first set to take a 5-3 lead before serving to seal his advantage.
Monaco, languishing at 105th in the rankings just two years after holding a place in the top 10, rallied and seemed set to force a decider when he raced into a 3-0 lead in the second set.
But Andujar found a response of his own, reeling off four straight games and sealing victory with an ace as he held to love.
"I'm very happy, it was a very tough match, I knew it would be a fight physically," said the winner after the 92-minute final.
"I won those points and that was the set. He got an advantage in the second set, but finally I made it. I played great on the last few points.
"After working a lot, it all pays off when you get to hold the trophy. It's amazing."
Andujar fired his only ace on match point and fell onto his back in joy at taking the third trophy of his career. I looked up and saw my parents, my girlfriend, my brother in the stands. It was a feeling that I cannot describe.
"I was going for an ace but I was aiming out wide, instead it hit the line perfectly. It was a lot of work to get this trophy but I'm feeling very comfortable with my game.
"I've been returning well all week that that helped me. I don't have the best serve so I try to put pressure with the return. That's what I did this week."
