Nenad Zimonjic made it an even better day for Serbia as he and Australian partner Samantha Stosur wrapped up the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon.

Following on from his compatriot Novak Djokovic - who had won the men's singles crown earlier in the afternoon - Zimonjic and Stosur needed just 57 minutes to secure the title in straight sets, beating Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Chan Hao-Ching of Taiwan 6-4 6-2.

The No 15 seeds made the only service break of the opening set in game nine before adding two more in the second.

It was Stosur’s third Grand Slam mixed doubles success, including the Wimbledon crown of 2008 when she partnered Bob Bryan.

Stosur said: "We had a great week together. It was a lot of fun. It was obviously a great tournament for us."

Zimonjic has now won five major mixed titles and three in the men’s doubles – two of which have come at Wimbledon.

He added: "This was kind of a feeling like playing the Davis Cup, watching Novak play and then being ready to step on to the court myself."

Beaten Mirnyi, meanwhile, had won the mixed title at Wimbledon 16 years ago with a teenage Serena Williams and also tasted success on Centre Court in 2012 when he played with Victoria Azarenka to claim Olympic gold.

Elsewhere, at junior level, American qualifier Noah Rubin took the boy’s title with Latvian Jelena Ostapenko claiming the girl’s trophy.
