Six-time champion Roger Federer will face Alejandro Falla the final of the Gerry Weber Open in Germany after coming through their respective semi-finals.
Colombian ace Falla came from a set behind to upset Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The 30-year-old won through 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 against the 2011 champion, who was feeling the effects of his epic quarter-final win over compatriot Dustin Brown on Friday when he was taken to three sets before prevailing 18-16 in the third set tie-break.
Brown had shocked world No 1 Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the second round.
It is the second ATP final appearance for Falla, who lost his previous final in Bogota last year to Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic.
The world No 69 will next face crowd favourite Federer - whom he lost to in the first round in 2010 in his only other appearance at Halle.
The Swiss maestro fired 10 aces on his way to victory against world No 12 Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-3 7-6 (6-4).
The second seed needed just one chance to claim a crucial break and wrap up the first set, and appeared on course for a clinical victory when Nishikori dropped serve early in the second set.
Nishikori rallied to force a tie-break and although the Japanese claimed a mini-break to move 4-2 ahead, Federer came roaring back and won the last five points to seal his passage into the final.
Federer, who made his debut at the tournament 14 years ago, will be playing for his 79th title and his ninth final in 12 years at Halle.
