Philipp Kohlschreiber won two matches in a day to reach the final of the Dusseldorf Open.

The top seed and home favourite dispatched Croatian qualifier Mate Delic in the quarter-finals and Russia's Denis Istomin in the semis, both in three sets, to set up a final meeting with Ivo Karlovic.

Kohlschreiber defeated Delic 7-5 4-6 6-1 before seeing off Istomin 6-2 4-6 6-4.

Big-serving Karlovic, the seventh seed from Croatia, battled past young Czech hopeful Jiri Vesely 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (9-7).
