Maria Sharapova: Celebrates her win at the Magic Box on Saturday
Russian ace Maria Sharapova reached her second consecutive Mutua Madrid Open final with a straight sets victory over Agnieszka Radwanska.
Despite being broken in the second set, the eighth seed overpowered third seed Radwanska 6-1 6-4 to reach Sunday's final.
The destiny of this season's Premier League title will be decided LIVE on Sky Sports this Sunday - just one piece of drama playing out on a wonderful weekend of sport. Add in the Spanish Grand Prix, the Sky Bet Football League play-offs, the Players Championship, La Liga title race and more and Sky Sports is the only place to be. She will next meet Simona Halep after the Romanian came from behind to beat 2011 champion Petra Kvitova 6-7 (4) 6-3 6-2.
Fourth seed Halep was a set down and trailed 3-1 but won 16 of the next 18 points as she notched eight games on the trot to assume control of the match.
Fifth-seeded Kvitova could not rally and Halep, who had easily beaten her Czech opponent in last year's New Haven final in their only previous encounter, saw out the win.
But the 22-year-old will have to raise her game further in the final, given she has lost both her previous meetings to Sharapova in straight sets.
Sharapova, who was runner-up to Serena Williams in Madrid last year, is aiming for her 31st career title.
