France's Caroline Garcia won her maiden WTA title on Sunday with a 6-3 6-4 upset of defending champion Jelena Jankovic in the Claro Open Colsanitas in Colombia.
Things looked ominous for the 20-year-old when the Serbian top seed and former world number one Jankovic broke in the first game of the match.
But fifth seed Garcia broke straight back and won six of the next eight games to take the first set and firm control of the match.
The French ace then broke early on in the second set as she established a 3-1 advantage, before Jankovic fought back to level 3-3.
However, Garcia broke once more and then served out the match in style, hitting back-to-back aces before launching a superb forehand winner to clinch the title - and defeat a Top 10 player for the first time.
In winning, Garcia became the first player in nearly two years to pull off a singles-doubles success at a WTA-level event after her doubles title with Lara Arruabarrena on Saturday.
