Australian duo Lleyton Hewitt and Bernard Tomic both brought up notable landmarks at the Sony Open Tennis in Miami on Thursday.
Two-time grand slam winner Hewitt claimed his 600th win on the ATP Tour with a 2-6 6-3 6-3 success over Robin Haase in the first round of the Masters 1000 event.
Tomic, meanwhile, became the fastest loser in the history of the ATP as Jarkko Nieminen raced to a 6-0 6-1 victory over the 21-year-old.
The contest took just 28 minutes and 20 seconds, the shortest ever completed ATP match by one minute.
Hewitt had also lost the first set in rapid fashion but produced a trademark fightback to set up a second round clash with world No 1 Rafael Nadal.
"It's not something you focus on, to tell you the truth. I totally forgot. Today was just like another match and an opportunity to go out there and play well,” Hewitt said of his 600th win.
"Obviously afterwards, it's a great milestone. Not many people get to achieve that. Not many people get the opportunity to get close to that, so it means I've been around for an awfully long time as well. I'm getting old.
"A few years ago when I had the last couple lot of surgeries I probably would have doubted I'd get to this stage anyway. I'm still grateful I'm out there and able to compete with the best guys."
Elsewhere, it was a good day for the home hopes in Miami as Americans Jack Sock, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison progressed to the second round with victories over Guido Pella, Federico Delbonis and Carlos Berlocq respectively.
Coincidentally, all three opponents beaten by the US trio are from Argentina.
